who the heck designs a system where if you are in the middle of navigating somehwere and you get a call screen, the navi display doesnt not stay up and neither do you get any time of chime or voice to let you know a turn is coming up etc.

it is the most annoying and stupid thing in the world.

i feel that whenever the car is being navigated, the screen should always remain on top so you can see where you are going. also it should still do the chime or beep etc even during a phone call etc so you can not miss a turn.

so many times i am on a call and i miss a turn bc i dont hear the chime to turn and my eyes are on the road!

did they fix this on a newer software update?

I think picture in picture technology used in TVs might work in the situation you mention.

I think you have the Full Screen setting for your incoming calls; there is another option. You can select a shorter Drop Down (about one inch) alert, that only appears at the top of the map, and disappears after a few seconds. Press Info/Telephone/Settings/Screen. The options are Full Screen or Drop Down. Set the Drop Down. From the sounds of it, you are probably on Full Screen which is the default setting.

i think i tried that setting and it still will do full screen sometimes. i think when i make a call it goes to full screen but when a call cmes in it has the short drop down. or maybe both. i just know it still does it and its annoying.


does the newer software upgrades have this fixed?

I have the 2008 600. I owned the 2007 460 until July last year, but that part of the menu did not change. The Drop Down is the first option I selected, and it works fine for me, even when I'm using the Navi. I'm still able to see the route trace, the split screen and the upcoming turns but the voice guide does cut out during a call (obviously). Play around with it a bit more, and use another phone to call in to test different settings until you find the one that works for you.
