Prestigious Society Continued
I recently purchased one Mark's overrides and unfortunately I had a problem on the installation which caused a burn in the GPS unit. After a few hours at the Lexus dealer I was told I needed a new GPS and as I was sitting down at the time they told me how much that would be.
I called Mark with my tale of woe and he immediately arranged to drive from OC California to Casa Grande AZ at no cost to me,bringing his ace Tech, Henry, with him (400 miles each way, plus hotel)
He arrived in a Lexus and, with me witnessing, proceeded to install my override in the car to show me that the part was not at fault. Not that I had thought that it was.
If this isn't the definition of "Customer Service" then I don't know what is.
We had a very pleasant meeting here in CG and if I am ever in OC I am to look him up for dinner.
Happily the installing company has lept to the plate and agreed to cover all my costs incurred so I will have my override, allbeit with a minor delay.

Out of curiosity, what happened during installation to cause the "burn"?
This is a plug-n-play unit, so I'm curious how anything could go wrong. But if there's a caution for others out there, it should be known. (BTW, mine is working great after a year's use.)

Burn
Hello
To the best of my knowlege, the clock harness was plugged into the only other receptacle that would accept it with the ensuing burn.
Very irritating as all the other components of the GPS stack functioned perfectly;
GPS, HD, radio, just no temps or passenger air bag warning, for that you can give Lexus $7500 including $67.64 for SHIPPING.

It seems like it would take some real work to plug something into the wrong place!

Mike, finally got my LS460 with the ML and am contemplating the modification. I assume you did yours, or has anyone else posted a good dissasembly of the dash and the unit to get behind it on the LS? I am pretty comfortable working on things- is this a true DIY'er?

it is definitely a DIY, so many people here do that. if you are comfortable working on your car, you are set you can email chung@prestigioussociety.com for more info, they package the installation instruction with the override kit anyway, that's all you need, hehe

WOW!!!!! That is the best customer service story I have ever heard. I know how far that drive is. I used to live in LA and I used to work in coolidge and Florence. I have never been to Casa Grande but I find it hard to imagine an LS in Casa Grande. Seems so much more like a pick up truck part of AZ
