Navigation system maps upgrade on LS 460 L 2007
I want to upgrade my Navigation system maps. I have a LS 460 L 2007. Any guidance?
I see they sell them on Amazon for almost every model except mine. I am a DIY guy and rather not have the dealership do it. I have found indication that it is a DVD and others claim it is a USB upgrade. In 2007 the car does NOT even have a USB port anywhere that I can see.
Any advice on getting it done for the least amount of $$ is greatly appreciated.

How about this?

It does say that you still need your dealer to load it. From what I have read, you take this to the dealer, they have to load it into a computer and hook it to your car with some special tool. Not sure if accurate.

If you have the required map update tools, it is not difficult to do. The steps are:
1. Install the latest Toyota/Lexus Navigation Update Took Kit software program on a Windows XP, Windows 7 or Windows 8/10 computer;
2. Load/copy the map files from the DVDs onto the computer (it takes about 30 minutes);
3. Copy the uploaded map files from PC to the Navigation Update Tool (it takes about 15 minutes);
4. Copy the security key on the USB drive onto the Navigation Update Tool (it takes about 5 seconds);
5. Connect the Navigation Update Tool to the car via the IEEE 1394 cable;
6. Press the MENU button on your car's navigation screen and touch the "HDD Data" button on the right top corner of the display screen;
7. Press the "Map Data Update" button on the left lower corner of the screen and then press "I Agree";
8. The map files will be copied from the Navigation Update Tool to the car's navigation hard drive (it takes approximately 25 minutes);
9. When screen displays the message "Data has successfully updated" (sic), press OK to exit the screen;
10. Disconnect the 1394 cable from the car and the map update is completed.
The USB drive sold on eBay is the security key. Each map update needs a unique security key which comes in the format of a USB drive. The map files for Generation 5 navigation system come in the format of DVD disks, which could also be obtained from eBay (e.g., PT219-HDDG5-15, PT219-HDDG5-16). For DIY, you'll need the map DVD disks, the security key USB drive, Lexus/Toyota Navigation Update Tool Kit, and a Windows OS computer.

Correct. The Toyota/Lexus took kit (the small box that is used to combine the map files and security key and then upload them to the car) is priced at $1200-$1600 by Toyota part distributors and is not worth purchasing if you just need to update nav maps on one car.

The USB drive after you install the software is worthless, I don't think it could be transferred to another car or something. It makes a "cute" USB drive with the Lexus logo on it.

If I could just drop by a dealer and get the 13.1 software installed that would be epic.

I am still new and getting use to this site; however, I just want to say thanks to everyone that provided feedback so far. I have an appointment next week for the dealership to give me an estimate to fix an ABS, VSC dash board message, ball joints and struts. I am at 172,000 miles and LOVE this car so I will pay them to tell me what it needs and try to do some or all of i myself if that is possible. Thanks again!
Well while I am here, let me share the message to see what some of you think about this:
While driving the car, car warnings on my instrument panel began flashing stating "check ABS", "check vsc", "check brake system", and "stop the vehicle in a safe place immediately. Contact a dealer".
Any thoughts?

There could be a number of possible causes, all related to the brake system, such as a damp brake sensor or a leaking brake tube. The best way to find out the cause is to check the trouble codes in the ABS/VSC/TRC section. If you have access to Techstream and are comfortable with DIY, you may check the trouble codes by yourself. If you don't have access to Techstream, go to an auto parts store such as Auto Zone. They do free code reading. If you just want to clear the error code, here is how to do it: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...-messages.html
