Lexus says we should change the smart key batteries annually. Mine are 18 months on original batteries. Do you think I am pushing my luck or should I change batteries asap?

When my FOB went dead with the car in the garage, I thought "no problem, I'll get the spare FOB in my bedroom." Problem was, the spare went dead also! Change them every 1-2 years. Even when dead, touching the FOB to the chrome ring around the start/stop button with allow you to start the car...for a while.

I just did both of mine yesterday. Took maybe 5 minutes total. The hardest part actually was getting the leather cover off the FOB. I bought 5 batteries on eBay for $5.75 including shipping. Supposed to have a 10 year shelf life, so i am set for the next time.
