Is the availability of new LS 460 AWD vehicles limited in Canada
My 2000 Acura TL is now getting a little long in the tooth and I am planning a nice step up to a Lexus.
I am waiting for the 2010 LS 460 AWD to be listed as available on the Lexus Canada web site. I live in the Toronto area and plan to purchase one equipped similarily to the technology package on the '09 model. I expect this will have to be a factory order (will limit my negotiation strength on price I suppose).
I read a posting somewhere on this forum that said the number of units produced for Canada is rather limited (small market). Does anyone know if this means I might have problems getting one at all and if there might be any room to pay less than the MSRP.
I plan to keep this car for 10+ years and would prefer to order new with exactly the options I want rather than go to the used market.
Any comments would be appreciated.

Mike, I can't comment on the availability of models up there since I have no idea (I'm sure Burnaby can help you there). What I can tell you is if its similar to here, you are not in an adverse negotitation position.
Like you, I keep my cars a long time (I still have my '95 Q45a). So when I buy a car, it has to be exactly what I want. I had to order my car because I had to have the Pre-Collision System with the radar cruise control. That option was not available on any stock car sent to any snow belt state (and presumably to Canada).
Of course the salesman would have preferred that I buy one off the lot, but once you are clear on what you want, a commission delayed 4 months is just as attractive as one now if its a sure thing. I negotiated a deal as good as I could get on a car in stock.
Hopefully the situation up there is the same so you have bargaining power.

Go in and talk to your dealer. They have access to the factory production schedule which will show what cars (models) are available, when they are scheduled to arrive, what they are equipped with, what colours they are and what other dealers are holding in inventory across Canada. They can even see what's on the boat on its way here. You should have no trouble finding what you like. LSs aren't exactly selling like hotcakes these days.

While small, Canada is still important for Lexus. It is very unlikely that the AWD edition will be sold in restricted numbers here. For most of us in Canada AWD makes so much sense in the winter even though many will be keep their treasured cars stored well out of the weather.
I have driven my RWD LS460 throughout the year in Eastern Canada and I am looking forward to the AWD version in a few months time. I am sure your dealer will be more than happy to sell you a brand new LS AWD - I am not sure how much of a deal you can get though.
Perhaps the first shipment of the AWD may be all spoken for - but it will be worth the wait. They are absolutely wonderful automobiles.

My man Burnaby! Look at that, 6 minutes later he's posting. If he were any better he'd be twins!

Thanks for the comments. Once the new specs/MSRP are out for the 2010 I will head for a dealer and see how things work out. I can't wait!! I got bite taking a test drive on an '09 LS 406.
