Smile Newbie & in much need of your help...

Hello friends!!! I've been a member of the purse forum but I'm beginning to enjoy this place a lot more I've been lurking here for the past 2 days and finally had the ***** to post I am in the market for a LS460 preowned or possibly new '09.

option 1: 2007 LS 460L (ext/int. color of my dreams), under 8K miles, not certified, seller is indep.dealer, asking for $64K (I'd negotiate for sure), but what should be my max $$?

option 2: Wait until Jan.2010 ... Look into 2008 LS 460 swb/lwb for good deals

option 3: See if I can go to Lexus and get a brand new 2009 for under $65k???

Facts about me:
Do I need the LWB? No, probably not...I am 5'2 115 lbs I I have a 21 month old toddler and do not do a lot of driving either.but I think it looks a lot sexier than the swb. I've been in love with the LS460L for a long time I'd be a happy girl if I can get option 1, if the price is right.

Thanks in advance!!!

SWB and option 2 sounds good. i cant tell the difference between the swb and lwb while moving and you probably wont need so much legroom so go for the swb. welcome to the club!

When you say "not certified", do you mean it is not in "Warranty", or not "Lexus Certified Pre-Owned"?

Go for LWB if you think it's sexier(so do I ).

Otherwise you might regret it after you bought a SWB, and see a LWB which you like better. You are already spending that much for a car, get the version you like best

Be sure to check your garage length. I had to go SWB as the LWB is won't fit in my garage. (And keeping her outside is not an option)

Firstly, welcome to the Club!

Don't even bother to negotiate with that independent dealer. That car is so overpriced its ridiculous. You could have bought that car new in 2007 for that same price. I have a feeling he sees a female walk into the shop and $ signs spin in his eyes.

Since you are buying the car, I assume you will be keeping it for more than a few years. If so, get what you really want or you will regret it. Just be sure a LWB is what you really want. Drive both, and more importantly, try to park both.

As to the fact you "....finally had the ***** to post....", kudos to you. There are some male lurkers here who don't!

If you can afford it, consider a new or better still, a slightly used LS. The fact that you have an option 3 probably means you can afford it. My first 460 was brand new, but I wish I had waited for the 600s to come out as that is what I ended up with. It had 800 miles on it, but it turned out to be a better purchase. A very low mileage '09 would have the depreciation out of it, and might cost you $15-20K less than a new one. New cars have a lot of profit margin built into them. As for the LWB vs SWB, it all depends with your needs. Trunk space might be a consideration, in which case some models don't have much.

Oooops, you couldn't have bought a new LWB (just a SWB) at that price, but its still waaaaay overpriced.

Regarding your Option 3, I bought a new fully loaded 07 SWB in 07 for 67K which was a good deal at the time.

Now that the economy is in the tank and the 10s are on the way I would guess you could pick up a new 09 SWB for 65K or less. Pick a dealer with a large inventory if you can as they will have more inventory to clear and may cut a better deal.
