Default Would you consider a 07 LS460 for $36,999???

I actually drove this car for a day and it's a very clean non-smoker car. It's loaded with ML, Nav, heated steering wheel and the doors are sucked in like the S550 benz. Not CPO and no warranty.

The car has a lot miles so the transmission might come into a issue. Does anyone know of someone having an 07 LS with similar miles.

Thanks,
Ernie

I guess it depends on the history. That's a terribly good price for a loaded 07, but the best deal in the world doesn't mean anything if it's going to start coming apart at 100k miles because it was poorly maintained. I would ask for a printout on the service history and do the usual background check - carfax AND auto check (carfax doesn't show all body damage history - autocheck.)

You can get CPO, with half this many miles on an 07 for under 40k. The dealers right now are starving to move inventory.

an 07 with 100k miles and no CPO is a big gamble... IMO

I guess it isn't the best deal out there.

I've seen cars with fewer miles (50K - 60K) at slightly lesser prices ($34K - $36K).

My biggest concern isn't the price. My concern is the car's mileage.

A car with a lot of miles on it has a greater chance of having gotten exposed to problems due to possible poor maintenance. This could be avoided by checking the records, but again if you could get one with fewer miles, why not go for the better deal?

What does this mean? Is there a known problem with the tranny that occurs at 100K miles or so? HUH?

I say get it IF, the services can be confirmed that they were all done. Yes, 97,000 is alot of miles. That said, if the car was well maintained it doesnt matter. If theres a car with 40,000 miles on it with 2 oil changes and no services done on it, thats a bigger risk than one with 97,000 miles on it with all services etc. done on it. Its a matter of care just as much as miles. If the services were not ALL done, PASS ON IT! Thats the key, SERVICES done! L.G.N.M

Changed my mind!!!! PASS ON THIS ONE BUDDY!!! To much of a risk!! If you find one at $40,000 with 50,000-65,000 miles thats a better buy. May find deals out here due to economy if your patient my friend. If you just have to have this one know the risk. Make sure the services have all been done!!! L.G.N.M

I still wonder about that transmission question. There are no services required to the tranny before 100,000K if I remember correctly. So even if the car was neglected, the tranny would not be what to worry about. Right? Or am I missing something?

I lease a 2007 LS460 LWB, fully loaded with MSRP of $86K, so about $10-12K higher stick than this car was at the time. It has 42,000 miles on it and my residual is $47K. I did a lot of research on the used LS market and concluded it was not that great of a buy at $47K, so I'm going to be turning it in. Having said that, I would much rather pay $47K for my car than $37K for this one with almost 100K miles on it. There are much better deals to be had out there than this. I would not buy any used car with such high mileage. The discount you get for the high mileage is not enough to justify the risk of such a high mileage vehicle. I would definitely pass on this one.

Thanks for the input guys. The service is up to date and serviced at Lexus Ft Worth and Lexus Grapevine, TX. Owner had oil changes done, purchased tires from the dealerhsips listed but did miss the 30k and 60k service. Lexus FT Worth did a presale inspection on 12/7/09. Davenport Motors that services only Lexus vehicles here in DFW area has checked it out and gave it a passing grade but they have not seen a 07 with that many miles.

2-3 yrs and 90k miles, that's a lot of mileage, not sure if i would get a used car this high mileage to begin with. moreover, for the mileage i don't think the car is priced very attractively neither, considering it's not cpo

I grabbed a used 07 SWB w/ 43K miles for low 40s ..It was CPO, and I validated the service records, CARFAX and they jibed that a lot of the miles were trips back and forth from a 'winter' home to a home in FLA.. That being said, I'm thinking the only way an 07 has that many miles is that it was in Livery or Fleet service somehow ..You'll be able to find CPOs with half the miles for just a little more money ..

I agree with all. The dealership will have a difficult time selling this car. It will be a limited amount of customers that will be willing to purchase an 07 with 97,000 miles. I might just offer $32,000 and see what kind of reply I get.

Kelly Blue Book shows Suggested Retail for "Excellent" condition around $32,000...
Dealer here is asking $54,000 plus/minus for same car with around 25,000 miles...

I'd say get it. 100K miles is not that much. Considering that Lexus owners are not that sporty, the car was well maintained and the climate it was used in is good, I'd go for it in a heartbeat. Many LSs are hovering at 200-300K and still going strong. For buyers that are used to acquiring new vehicles, it would sound high and their opinions would naturally be biased. However, it is a Lexus and that says more than enough.
