Default What's your feeling now about the 460?

To all 460 owners that traded a 430 for the current LS, what is your take on how you would compare your experiences. Driving dyanmics, ownership experience, were you glad or any regrets. Not trying to start any LS "beefs" but this question was asked in the 430 room and it got some interesting feed back. I'm a lexus fan from day one(LS models in particular) and plan to stay that way but the 430 holds closer to me for some reasons. I'll eventually get a 460 or what ever comes next(480,500,650) but the 430 will forever hold a place with me.

P.S. would love to see Lexus bring back a 400 model of some sort to honor its launch of the original.

The seats in the LS 460 aren't as comfortable as my old LS 430. The 460 has a lot more power and the Mark Levinson stereo is much better in the 460. The 460 also looks a lot better than the 430. I've had 5 Lexus vehicles and have a GX 460 on order. I'm keeping my LS 460. I'm replacing my 2009 BMW X5d.

although the 460 might be a "better" car than the 430. I would keep your 430 until the new 500, 465, whatever the next LS might be. We are not too impressed with the car. It is our second Lexus, and we jumped on the "Toyota, Reliability" bandwagon. We regret this decision as these two cars have been in the shop more times than our BMW and Infiniti. We do regret not going with the E550.

Biggest gripe is that the LS460 looks to similar as the "cheaper" cars. Especially, the Camry, and ES350.. The interior is also VERY similar in ALL lexus cars... IS, ES, GS, LS.. the center console (radio, A/C area) are WAY too similar.. only difference is the size of the buttons/screens.. i wish lexus did more to distinguish the LS from other cars in their line that cost half as much.

The Lexus service dept aren't too bad, but they are not top notch. Always giving us the guilt trip for not using their "paid" services.

P.S. Both Lexuses are first year models. That could be the reason for above average issues.. so take my review as a grain of salt.

Come on man, you asked people who have a LS 460 about the LS430. I think there not even thinking about the LS 430 right now. I like your question but, I dont have the LS 460. I think its a good topic but, with those who own LS 460's I think they either dont care for the LS 430 or have moved on from the one they had!!

Im still debating myself if I should get LS460(dont like exterior but, love the improvements and interior touches) or Benzes S 550(reliability is an issue but, miss the performance/luxury sedan it is)!! Hope more respond though, good topic!! L.G.N.M

Yeah hope so too! I think everyone takes a look back occasionally on something they used to have that got replaced by something better albeit cars, homes, jobs, and of course, women. We think back on past good and bad times and compare them to current ones although reminiscing about an old girlfriend around your current one is not a good idea.

The only reason I bought my LS-460 was because it finally had some style. I always liked Lexus LS models for their quality and quietness, but I never bought an LS-430 because it was way too boxy and grandpa-looking for me.

The LS-460 is a great car, no question about it. I still would like to see it more aggressively styled though. I'm considering the new Jaguar XJ, but what concerns me on Jags are their reliability and horrible resale value.

On the 460 be prepared to deal with potential wind noise. Specially coming from a 430.

Check this carefully - you may need to do an out of dealer self repair:

For me, this is reason alone to skip the LS460 for now

this "repair" took me 15 minutes to do.. and its completely quiet. I dont think that is any reason to hold off on buying a 460...

Spend much time in L.A. and there are some Lexus' there but, seems to be a German Luxury car town or European that is. Im in the music industry and have noticed alot of the A&R's had Audi's!!! Even a few execs had Audi's as well. L.A. seems to have a different view of Lexus as is the case in different pats of the USA! A negative review in the L.A. Times is like the sun rising in the east, expect it, its giong to happen. HAHAHAHAHA!

I agree the new LS 460 is better styled than my LS430. Good thing about Lexus outside of the 1-2 TSb's they seem to have with every body style change is, they can be owned for 10 years with few issues and just normal wear and tear! Thats why many over on the LS430 section say as to why they keep theres and havent traded. I have my money already for the new LS460 but, I havent moved on it because I feel I'll only benefit by getting a lower miled car and want better exterior styling before I buy up but, may get one anyway due to overall reliability which is my biggest reason for buying goods and services.

Havent had any issues that werent normal wear and tear yet with my LS430(105,180 miles). ALL LEXUS' are great ones to own. I feel we need to show each others year Lexus' more love!! That said, I LOVE the new LS 460, still more to be desired as another member pointed out when it comes to more edgy exterior styling! L.G.N.M
