Thus far, apart from personal preferences, those that are unhappy seem to be 07 owners. Not to discount their concerns in the least, but it's not really a fair representation of LS owners on the whole. 2007 was the FMY (First Model Year) of the LS460 -- as with almost all major revisions I've experienced, from any manufacturer, they have tend to have issues that are addressed in TSBs and later revisions. Wind noise is a good example. I have absolutely no noise - and believe me, I'm as picky as they come.

I've owned the LS430 with the ultra package and it was a fine vehicle, I sold the 430 to a good friend and bought the 460 because of the "LWB". My 460 doesn't have all the bells and whistles like the 430, but one thing I've learned @ a young age is "never get attached to a car"! Whatever vehicle I owned at the time, is what brought me true happiness. When I'm no longer happy with my 460, I'll buy something else. Just my $0.02....

I find the LS460 to get pretty quick although handling could be better. The only other thing I think are not up to BMW standards are the front seats which are definitely not as comfortable although I have requested my dealer to change the lower cushion per their service notices. But I notice that the BMW was much more comfy on long trips. That said I have never had mechanical issues with the Lexus!

My 2009 BMW X5 twin turbo diesel seats might be more comfortable, but my BMW has been in the shop over ten times in the last year. With only 5500 miles on my BMW, I've ordered a GX 460 to replace my BMW. This is my 4th and last BMW. It took BMW 3 months for a air temp sensor for the turbo chargers. I drove around 3 months with a check engine light. I waited another 5 weeks for a heated fuel filter to arrive at my dealer. Both times, I had to call BMWNA and complain. Without calling BMW, who knows how long it would have taken for the parts to arrive at my dealer. BMW refused to buy back my vehicle. They did give me a compensation check for 600.00. I'm done with BMW. The BMW does ride and handle better than any Lexus, but their service and resale are terrible. Their parts availability is unacceptable for a new vehicle. This will be my 6th Lexus and I'm keeping my LS 460. I need another vehicle for the snow and the LS 460 is terrible in the snow. If you value your time, don't buy a BMW. I have the comfort seats in my BMW with Nappa leather. Lexus doesn't come close to the quality of the seats, or the Nappa leather. I also have the the leather dash in my BMW. The dash in my LS 460 looks cheap compared to the one in my BMW. I should have my GX 460 in about a week.

Interesting about your BMW. I had a friend who was (he passed away) the GM for one of the largest BMW dealerships in the US. He told me on multiple occasions - "don't buy a BMW - the quality is not very good". That is a direct quote. JD Powers only rates BMW's as 3.5 stars (on average).

A lot of you seem to have a problem with the way the Lexus handles. I just don't see it. Could one of you explain what you are talking about?

I like the way my car handles and rides (like on a cloud).

Unless something happens to my car with respect to problems, i will probably be a Lexus customer for a long time. My next lexus will probably be the 600h or the GX hybrid.

I'm with you. My LS460L rides like I'm on a cloud, very smooth when in the comfort mode. When I'm in the mountains I use the sport mode and she handles the curvy roads like a dream. It's uncomprehending to me why some say the LS does not handle well.

The LS 460 doesn't handle well at all. Try taking a turn fast, or going around a curve in the road fast and you will know what we're talking about. It leans like a boat, not a sports car or sports sedan. My BMW does not lean when taking corners. I also have the sport suspension on my X5 BMW.

I dont think the ls was designed to be a hard driven car. It was probably designed to be a luxury car and other models were designed to be sportier. I have a 350z that i drive to get the sporty feel. It takes fast corners very well. I have never driven my ls hard because i dont feel the need to.

I have not seen the ls sport model, but the reviews are very good with regard to that sport, road hugging feel.

The difference must be with the sport/comfort shock setting I have in my 460L, never drove one without it. Like I said, my 460L while in sport mode hugs the road to my satisfaction. I do agree while in comfort mode the car leans much more taking a corner then my buddies BMW 7 series but it's no where near as smooth driving down the road (while in comfort mode) and while in sport mode it's close but not as good as his car in the corners.

I prefer the reliability of a Lexus over a car that take corners better and from what my friend told me, spends more time in the shop then his driveway.
