I just took out the manual and it does say every 6 months, or 5,000 miles in my 2007 LS 460 manual.

Once a year, or 5,000 miles is plenty often enough with full synthetic oil.

Craig
That's what my 07 IS350 manual says (and these cars were factory-filled with regular oil, not synthetic).

But what does the 2010 LS460 and RX350 manual say?

I just had the 1000 mile change yesterday in my new ES350. The new oil is 0W20 synthetic. Lexus has a one page brochure extolling the virtues of synthetic oil in the waiting lounge. Took them a hell of a long time to do what the Europeans and even GM with the 'Vette have been doing for years. I have been using synthetic oil since I was stationed in Ankara Turkey, '75-77!

Wow, didn't realize the ES350 was on synthetic too.

What are the oil change intervals (miles and months) recommended in your Lexus manual?

I haven't bothered to look. The new oil probably came on after the publication of the manual, anyway. My next change is also free at 5,000 miles and they will email me a reminder.

On my previous non-Lexus car, a 04 BMW 330i the changes were free, every 15,000 miles or 6 months. Of course, synthetic oil ONLY.

My new GX 460 is once a year, or every 10,000 miles. BTW, the 2007 LS 460 was factory filled with 0W20 full synthetic oil.

the HS, GX, RX, and LX are the only ones to OFFICIALLY go 10k. the others will follow in due time.

Lexus has to approve it through the EPA to go 10k before it needs an oil change.

does anyone know if all 0w 20 is synthetic or do i need to request synthetic specifically. the local lexus dealer gave me conflicting answers. i was under the impression 0w 20 is only a synthetic

Your owners manual suggests the correct weight of oil to use. The Lexus owners manual suggests using a high grade/high quality motor oil...synthetic is not mentioned.

Also printed on the oil cap of your LS is the correct weight of oil to use. 5w30 is generally recommended for use in all Lexus models unless specified otherwise.

You must request synthetic oil to be used at your next service visit, or you can bring your own oil and have them install it.

0W20 only comes in synthetic. I would ask for 0W20 f snythetic when you take your vehicle in for an oil change. I'm running Toyota brand synthetic and it's made by Mobil 1.

And you 2010 LS was factory filled with synthetic? Sounds like it was not.

Amsoil synthetic... only thing I've run in all my cars (Lexus, BMW, Sonata, Mustang GT, Maxima, 4-Runner) over last 15 years, 10K miles on every change

I'm trying 5w20 Pennzoil Ultra for the first time. We'll see how it goes. Available at Walmart in 5 Gal Jugs.
