Synthetic Oil Used
After 10 years and 4 Audis and picked up my 2010 LS460 AWD SWB yesterday. Of interest was the dealer telling me that Lexus switched over to Synthetic oil going forward and can go 10,000 miles between changes.
Has anyone else heard this?

You could even go more than 10,000 miles, but of course you wouldn't want to void your warranty. My Infiniti Q45a has 176,000 miles. I've used only synthetic and change it every 10,000. I just had it changed at 175,000. The oil still looked good, but maybe some of the additives were depleted. Also, I've never had to add oil between changes.
Here's an interesting article, and keep in mind that motor oils are much improved since this study was done.

It's true. Time can get to the oil more then mileage if you drive low mileage, so you may only get to 5000 miles before the need for a change. If you drive average to high mileage, then you may get near 7500-10,000 out of each change. Make sure to use a high quality full synthetic, such as Mobil-1 with a high quality oil filter.

The hassle for us pre-'10 owners is the warnings that cannot be altered. I guess it really isn't a deal breaker, but anything over 5k forces the maintenance reminder to alert. A quick reset is all that's necessary, but it's no longer synchronized.

I just bought an '07 SWB with 7000 miles on it. It was a Lexus/Toyota Motor Sales corporate car. It was serviced once a year although the mileage wasn't near 5000. The owner manual says 5000mi/6 mo whichever comes first is "recommended". How does this recommendation relate to the warranty requirements?

It's still sort of sync'ed, you just do the oil change every other time the warning pops up.
