My question: how realiable is car fax? If I buy private party and review all receipts/invoices should I have the car inspected at the Lexus dealer? My Toyota service adviser's hubby is a service adviser at Lexus and he feels the 08 thru 10 LS is 10 times better in overall quality and satisfaction compared to any other Lexus car. I was looking at the 08 GS 460 and he talked me out of it.
Its a great selling strategy but the reality is its Not worth the paper its written on. All car fax does is show a salvaged title. You could be licking your chops at a car that has been in a accident with $12,432 worth of damage (Hint Hint) and as long as there is no frame damage then the car wont be a salvage and will not appear on car fax

This is why why when i Buy pre-owned, I look it over, especially for paint overspray and under the hood for original factory stickers. In addition, I tell the dealer I want 48 hours to return it if a local body shop tells me it was in a big accident. I know a couple of buyers at a local Carmax who do me the favor in looking over pre-owns that I have bought. They dont charge me a dime for a quick inspection for major damage

I would do the same if I were you. I would still use car fax to make sure its not a salvage but the car fax report is only worth that much
