There is a plug in the center console and that how she is running it now, however, it is quite the distance between the console and the windshield with the cord stretching the entire way, it really doesn't look good. The hard wiring is an option, so is buying a battery operated detector, however, the reviews are less than stellar when it comes to wireless detectors.

It's very simple to hard wire the detector or install a socket in that space behind the door. If not, just get the best radar detector made that you can't see http://k40.com/ I have one in my car...simply awesome.

Just like Lexus installing a non maitance free battery, Non HID high beams and fogs, Non led marker lights, just another thing to cheap out on.
