Hi all,

I have been lurking on this board for quite a long time - I am excited to finally post. I have had an 08 GS350 AWD for a little over two years. While it has been a wonderful car, it has been plagued with quality control issues such as brake squeal and multiple interior rattles. Since Lexus has been unable to resolve these issues, they are letting me out of my GS lease and getting me into an LS460 AWD at cost.

From what I can tell, there are not side airbags for rear seat passengers (aside from the curtain airbags) unless I get the comfort plus package. I really don't want to spend $3000 for power rear seats just to get side airbags, but I am a little concerned about the safety of my occupants. My GS has side airbags, so I'm a little surprised they're not standard in the LS. Anyway, I'd appreciate your thoughts on whether I should be concerned.

Btw, I am trying to get peridot mica with black interior. They are having trouble locating this color combination, but I am willing to wait for it. If the wait is going to be obscene, I will consider truffle mica or deep sea mica. My GS is black sapphire, though, so I was hoping to try a non-blue color.

omg i'm in the same boat! i'm having Lexus do a buyback on my prairie wagon, gs450h, and hoping to move up to a LS460L executive. I did also notice the rear airbag issue, but if you get any upgrades for the rear they will be there as you know. imo, idk if truffle mica will age well. i havent seen peridot mica in person, but I certainly hope it's less offensive than the previous verdigris mica.

well, without rear side airbag, for sure it's less protection. but that's pretty much anyone can tell you, it's not like there will be zero protection, but personally i'd rather get it as well for the peace of mind
