Help me figure out how much it costs to own an LS460
Hi guys,
I was wondering, if I bought a 2007 LS460 with about 40k miles on it, and I drove it 15k miles a year, how much could I expect to pay in maintenance (perhaps at a dealership) over the next 5 years?
Thanks!
Hopefully not more than $3000/year in maintenance?

I owned an LS460 for 16 months, and after that an LS600 for 22 months.
I spent less than $500/year in maintenance costs.
But yeah, that look in post #2 kind of says it all...

I am taking my RX330 in next week for it's 120K Service. I first called Lexus, it was going to be approx. 1150.00, Then I called Toyota, and they can do the same service for 450.00....
Maybe next time when you need srvice on a Lexus, call Toyota to compare

LOL...
It prolly cost you 2x more for service at dealership.
You don't need to go to dealership for your maintenance, and the dealership cannot force you regardless about its warranty.
On average I spent about $400 per car per year... and I work in automotive industry.

Expect the lowest in the industry. You can easily stay below $3000, even with major service due around 100k. Just don't go to the dealer for every single thing... there is no need. You will have 115k on the car at the end of 5 years. I would highly recommend selling it at 85-89k to avoid a major depreciation hit at 100k. If you are going to stay in it over 100k, then you need to plan to run it until about 150-160k, before you hit another depreciation bracket. There is little loss from 115k to 150k.

Well, now I am being tempted very strongly by a 2004+ Jaguar XJ Vanden Plas. It's very skimpy on amenities and has an aged look, but it makes up for all of that with class and character (the latter of which I feel Lexuses lack).
It will be a tough decision!

This may be true, but I haven't heard of any problems with the latest 2004+ XJ. Hopefully I would be able to find a CPO with a warranty.

Oh, please. Why don't you just buy a Kia Rio. The XJ is a rolling pile of obsolete repair prone unreliable junk that depreciates like a rock falling off a cliff. It isn't even in the same class as an LS. The car was outdated when it was introduced and is even more obsolete today. You better have a back up car and a high limit credit card with that junk-mobile. It will be in the shop more then on the road. Look at the reliability stats and review rankings if don't believe us! It is Range Rover bad.
