The part is exactly the same, it just has a little fin on it. Nothing was changed for 2016, that part was redesigned with the large scale refresh in 2013.

The wind noise issue that this fix addresses is caused by the way the part is installed in the trim, has nothing to do with the part itself.

I am very knowledgeable on this subject. Most of the “wind noise“ problems that were related to the trim were gone by the ‘11 models, long before the new trim part was introduced. The wind noise was a major problem in the earlier models. Although many of the cars produced in that period had a wind noise problem, many did not have a wind noise problem. This has been explained extensively in this forum.

Both left and right front doors are experience some wind noise. By using a listening device I have traced the sound to the bottom of the windows. There is a rubber blade that runs the length of the window that works like a squeegee. 70-80% of the rubber is not making contact with the window when fully raised. If I seal the window and door panel with some painters tape, the noise is reduces by 80%. I am curious if other owners can look closely at their rubber trim pieces and please tell me if there is full contact along the length of the windows in their own vehicles. If so, I will purchase 2 new rubber trim pieces. I don't want to order them if the new ones are not better sealing.
Thanks
Glenn

Well, I believe there is a strip on the inside and one on the outside. You didn't indicate which you are referencing. I think, as to noise, the outside one would be more important. I don't believe these parts are expensive or difficult to replace. The fact that the seal is not contacting the glass may indicate a problem with the seal, or in could be the result of the glass not being in the right place. Since you have demonstrated to yourself, using the painter's tape, that there is improvement to be had with a better seal, seems like you would want to do that. I don't recall anyone ever telling us that they needed to replace those parts.

Sorry, for not being clear. It is the inside I am speaking about. The outside is tight all the way across. The inside is what does not make full contact. The window is straight and true on both driver and passenger sides with both having the gaps. The car only has 23k miles on it but was in the sun in AZ. This leads me to believe that the rubber might have dried out and lost some elasticity. If anyone else could compare to their own cars I would appreciate it.
Thanks
Glenn
