Default Speaker Change

I have a 2007 LS 460 with the premium sound system Not the ML system. Do to my financial situation I can not put the focal upgrade as we discussed earlier. The quote that I get around here was around $4K and $5K at cartoys. I change cars every 2 years or so. I really don't want to put a $5K system in and trade the car in two years. But I still want a better sound. What I was wondering if you could replace the factory speakers without upgrading the amp or adding a sub woofer? Will the factory amp run the new speakers? There are many speaker combos out there that sound better that the factory ones that are not that expensive. Any help?

Thanks to all

To answer my own question. No the premium factory amp is worthless as well as the paper speakers. I finally found a stereo installer in Houston that finally fits my budget. I called Car Stereo Outlet on 45 north after researching some 18+ positive reviews. After we discussed my budget, the kind of music that I listen to, we came to a good compromise. I installed six SR alpine co-ax speakers( 2- 4" dash, 4-6x9" front and rear doors, pdx-5 alpine amp, 12"alpine sub woofer. Although the alpine speakers are not the quality or price of the focals, I really can not tell the difference since I am not a musician or entertainer. The installer built a sub woofer sealed fiberglass box that fits where the old sub woofer was. Still plenty of room for the golf clubs. The PDX-5 amp went on the back wall of the trunk. I do like some quality bass but I do not like the BOOM BOOM bass that you hear from the car next to you at the stop light. So the sub woofer was not set at full blast. After some 7+ hours of installing and balancing the speakers, we were done. For around $1700 installed the sound is unbelievable compared to the stock premium system. BB King never sounded better. Well worth the money for the sound.

Congrats!

The Alpine is excellent for the money so you didnt cut corners if your not trained to hear the difference. Unfortunately I have an audio engineering background which is a blessing and a curse, I tend to hear the details that dont drive others mad.. so great job getting what you wanted for what you wanted to to spend. That is a win win!
