Hello all, new guy to the forum. I've done a lot of browsing on the web and first looked at some luxury cars and found the LS460 to be the better of many and then looked for advise and kept coming across this forum so I thought I'd join to learn more.
Im looking at the LS 460L because I want to put 22" wheels on the car and I'd like to lower it a bit. Im leaning more towards the LWB because I can at a lowering module and lower it as I see fit. My question would be, is it really worth paying extra for the LWB just for the fact that I can lower it at will, or are there extra features that I would get out of the L and not the regular one? Is the air ride that much more smoother than the other one? I know I have more questions but I guess I'll keep them coming as I get closer to purchase day. Thanks.
Ok, so a LWB it is for me. Now, my next question would be, how do I know if it has air or not?
If it has Air, there will be a button in the Center Console that allows you to switch between Sport/Normal/Comfort modes. Non-air models don't have this button.

the best way is to look for the height high button, only air can have that

even at stock form with 18s factory wheels, you can feel the difference. i can safely say i have driven more than 30 ls460/460l/600hl, and the difference is noticeable enough for me. it's mostly on how the dampening is when it goes over bumps or uneven road. it sounds and feels different.
i haven't sat in any ls460 with coilovers yet, but i think it's safe to say they are likely all firmer than factory springs/shocks setup. so depending on what you want, on a car like the ls, i really don't give care about a rough ride
For my own edification could someone clarify for me. I recently purchased a 2009 LS460 SWB AWD and it has the same sport/comfort height/high buttons as shown in dimapb’s picture. So this suggests to me that it is possible to get Air without going to the LWB. True?

correct, awd started in 09 and awd includes air suspension i believe
but for 07-08, i don't think awd was an option, and for those two years, air suspension was option only on lwb
