So I just joined the lexus world and picked up my first one, '07 LS 460, for what seems to be a good price. I have a few questions for the experts:
1.) I see people on here talking about downloading music to the hdd (hard drive) do all cars with nav have hdd system to download music to or is it an option?
2.) My nav system says version 6.1, is there any reason to upgrade other than maps? Is there a new touchscreen firmware that updates other touch screen features other than nav?

1) i can't remember exactly if you need to have mark levinson in order to be able to rip songs to the hdd
2) 6.1 was 2007, first version. they are up to 9.1 now i believe, mostly on POI, more information, and took away the i agree screen.

The HD is available only on ML LS's. Though my memory isn't that reliable.

Even without Mark Levinson/HDD, the unit will play MP3 discs. You can load ALOT of songs onto one single CD-R if recorded in MP3.

Keep in mind that the ML HD Program will not let you RIP MP3 CD's onto the HD. Only regular audio CD's that fill up with like 16-20 songs.
