I'm really confused now. My car IS NOT in the list that you have where the individual vin's are broken down, but in the second attachment where there is a range, mine does fall between the numbers. Which list is correct? (keeping fingers crossed)

I noticed that the format of the VIN's in the 1st attachment is different from the standard VIN format. The 10th digit in any VIN should be anything but 0. But many VIN's have 0 in their 10th digit.
Long story short, I think your car is recalled

Hi everyone,
Just joined this forum and this is my first post. I'm actually buying a 1997 LS 460 today (with 39K mi), and just learned about this recall. I'm getting the car at a great price, but I'm nervous about going foward with the purchase because of this. Should I be? In a way, I kind of see the recall as a positive thing as I'll now have extended drivetrain warranty for 6yrs/100K miles.

For most of the cars the Valve Spring retrofit warranty extension is for 6 years or 100,000 miles with the stipulation "Coverage expires upon reaching 6 years or 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first, measured from the date the vehicle was first delivered into service as a new vehicle and zero miles."
If yours is a 2007 (I don't think you intended to say 1997) then it could have as little as 21 months of coverage under the warranty extension.

I'm assuming you mean cost? I will get it for only $34K from a private party. Loaded with Mark Levingston sound and Comfort Plus package, in excellent condition & no history of any accidents. It's a great deal, so I'm thinking of just going for it, in spite of the ALE recall.

That's correct about the extended warranty. I called Lexus corporate yesterday, and that's what they explained to me.

just set yourself up first and then add the VIN when your ready, you can un-register the VIN if you dont buy the car, but it will then give you access to all of the service records that any dealer has put into the system, good for seeing if it was kept up and had all the recalls performed

true, its only as informative as the input accuracy. I find some techs to be very good and others to be awful. It is a good reference though to see if the car was maintained by a dealer (for example it does not cover work done outside of the Lexus dealership network) and if the recalls have been taken care of.
