Default Navigation chime and Mark Levinson Sound

The chime before the speaking direction is annoying to me, anyone know how to turn it off? Also, whenever the navigation start to talk or sometimes at random my ML stereo will fade over to the passenger side, is this normal, how do I keep the stereo in the foreground and navigation in the background? Thanks.

Wouldn't it be expected that a chime alerts you that a navigation instruction is about to be spoken. This would get your attention as it should. I'm not sure if the nav instructions have a setting that mutes all verbal directions leaving the screen for you to monitor on your own. This might be a good idea if you don't want verbal directions.

I just checked the manuals and can only find references to "mute" with respect to cell phone use - while in use both the audio system and nav guidance are muted. No mute settings for the nav system.

when it speaks, driver side speakers will always fade out. it makes sense, the whole point is to let you hear it!

if you don't like the chime or nav speaking at all, you can just go to menu and click on volume and then OFF, that will turn offf all navigation related sound.

Sorry for the wrong info regarding "mute" voice guidance. It is in the manual but it refers to it as "voice volume". I just did a document search for mute. You can adjust the nav guidance volume up or down including off.

Thanks guys for the info. yeah, there is no much I can do. It's a shame with such a expensive system and I ended up using my iphone's tomtom. Hey, is the upgrade map worth it? If you upgrade the map, I know it will get rid of the "I agree", does it also upgrade the firmware/software of the navigation system. Any new feature on the newer map/software?
