Default Crackling Noise after iOS 4.1 Update of iPoD Touch

I upgraded my iPoD Touch to iOS 4.1 yesterday and started experiencing subtle crackling noise on my 2010 LS460 (connected via USB).I tried many configurations and even restored it, to no avail. I just found out, in an Apple Forum, that this is a problem also with upgraded iPhones, but only when connected via USB and not through Bluetooth. Other reports are from Prius, Acura and Ford automobiles. On the positive side, the iPoD touchscreen interface is noticeably faster. Will try to downgrade to iOS 4.0, where it worked flawlessly, even with a gimpier touchscreen response.

Make sure it's safe to downgrade to 4.0 before you do it.

There is a slight possibility that the baseband was upgraded while upgrading the operating system to iOS 4.1, and it's irreversible.

I'm experiencing this too in my 2010 IS350 after upgrading my iPod Touch to iOS 4.1.

Spending my weekend now looking at potential fix options.

The problem is widely reported by now, afflicting also USB docks, etc. Spoke to an Apple "Genius" lady at one of the Apple retail stores about downgrading to an earlier version, not possible....The only options available (according to her) are to connect the audio through the aux. port or wait for the next iOS update (iOS 4.2 is scheduled in November). Neither is attractive, to say the least.

Default Solution to the issue

Had the same problem with cracking when ipod was charged.
Pulled out from the charge while leaving AUX audio out cable on - no more noise.
It may be a nuisance to separately charge and listen to your music but work-around works.
Enjoy

Default ipod touch

I am having the same problem with my ipod touch. It worked great until I dated the firmware to 4.1. Before that, every once in awhile it would disconnect on it's own. That's why I ran the update. Now, I can't stand to listen to it at all and I miss it! Can Lexus to any kind of firmware update on their end to the car that would make it compatible with this update? Should I take it in?
