Where can I get a second key fob?
Im interested in getting a second key fob for my car. I only got one when I purchased the car. I'd just like to know how much trouble it would be to get another one and more of less the price range. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

i have read mixed comments, some say you can't program a used key to your car, some say you can, but you have to bring all keys, erase everything, and program everything together again
if so, i guess ebay would be a place to look for cheaper ones. otherwise try sewell lexus, they always have good prices. but either way prepare to pay dealership to program the keys

Dealer charges almost $300 to get a second one if you only have one. They have to re-program. And, they require proof of ownership before making a duplicate. I turned down a deal with only one fob. Glad I did, I found CPO with executive seating for just $2K more.

Be careful with the ones you buy off of ebay. A lot of those come from Chinese or European markets and are NOT compatible with USDM vehicles. If you open the key, there is a FCC code stamped on the chip. If its not there, its a no go. Its basically because those other market keys are not approved by the FCC.
Also, I have seen people try to program different model keys different models they werent designed for. Theres a code stamped on the chip for that, too. I can post up the exact information tomorrow, I have it in my tool box.
On some years and models you can program a key that has been previously programmed, but its only certain ones and I do not know it off the top of my head. Also, the tech has to know how to do it, a lot of them don't. I just took a class on smart keys, I should be more up to snuff.
Ill post up the info hopefully tomorrow though, it will be useful to you guys.
Of course, its easier to just buy from the dealer.

Year? Model?
Programming a 430 (2001 - 2003) key isn't that hard.
Speaking of keys programing, there is a website that I've come across but unfortunately it doesn't have any of the LS' at the moment: www.programyourremote.com
