Question New owner, 2 Questions.....

Hi Guys, I'm new to the forum. I just bought a 2008 LS460L off of my father. He hasn't used it that much (only 1,000 miles!) so he sold it to me. I just have a few questions.
First, how do I check the oil level?
Second, there is a slight mark on my right rear wheel. I wanted to swap it out with the spare tire. Is there a problem with the programming of the wheel sensors, or do I just mount it and I'm good to go?
Thanks in advance! I'm sure there will be other questions in the future

Hello, Welcome to the forum and Congrats on your LS 460.

Please view the images.

You should just be able to mount the rim and be good to go. However, In terms of the tire you may have to initialize the Tire Pressure Monitoring System which is the third picture.

I feel like a complete fool. I never saw the dip stick, all of the plastic covering in the engine compartment threw me off, lol.

I've never understood that. I like opening the hood and seeing the actual engine. Guess I'm the crazy one.

I wouldn't change the slightly marked wheel with the spare. You will have 3 tires with 1000 miles on them and one with zero miles. The wheel may not even match, depending on what your father had put on the car. An unused spare is one of the first things many people look for when buying a used car. Putting it on the ground because you are too cheap to fix the factory wheel is a good way to depreciate the car even further.

1000 miles on it! ****, that's a new car! Now that's a great deal if he sold it to you for about $10-15 Grand less than what he paid for it IMHO!

Thanks for the info. The car stickered for over $83K and I got it for $50K, so yeah, he did give it cheap, plus it only has 1,000 miles and it was always garage kept. I was going to get the BMW 550i, which I prefer, but I couldn't pass this deal up, and besides, the car was going to waste, he was not using it enough.
As far as the wheel goes, I don't mind not having a brand new spare, but since the spare has the same tire and rim as the others, I thought it would be a good idea to swap. I would repair the damaged rim on it now, it's not the money, I am just afraid that they may make it worse in the long run. Do you guys really think that 1,000 miles of wear would cause a problem? I don't think there is any noticable wear that would make the other 3 tires a smaller diameter than the spare that is new.
As far as oil goes, I am due for an oil change, and I was wondering if you guys think that there is a problem going to synthetic oil from now, or should I wait 'till it breaks in a little more?

Not in the least. Furthermore, how much is someone going to depreciate the vehicle for a slightly used spare ...... $100 ...... on a $30,000 car (or whatever value when you sell it) who cares? Your satisfaction with the appearance of the vehicle is worth much more than that amount.

Definitely go with synthetic on your next oil change......which should be now (based on time).
