iPhone & USB connection
Anyone have any problems playing music from an iPhone using the USB connection? Mine plays, but there are gaps in the music. Almost sounds like the "skipping" on an old LP. So I tried a friend's iPhone and cable and his didn't play at all. It showed it was connected, but nada.
Is it possible my brand new ride came with a bad USB connector???

if i remember correctly, the iphone via usb to a car regarding skipping and crackling is a common complaint with iphone 4 and ios4.1. I use the blue-tooth for music and phone and it works fine.

That might be the problem, then. I'm using a 3Gs, but with OS 4.1. Blue Tooth works fine, only have the problem with the USB. Thanks for the heads up, I will check the iPhone boards. In the meantime, I've burned everythign on to a dvd and it sounds great.

Interesting - I'd be interested in knowing if the iOS 4.1 with the 3gs was the issue. I thought it was only the iPhone 4 with the 4.1 OS that was the problem. I was just about to upgrade my 3gs from 4.0 to 4.1 but will not until I find out if it will be a problem.

4.2 will be out next week - maybe it will fix the problems

iOS 4.2 seems to have done the trick. Plays just fine with the USB port now. Will probably use Bluetooth most of the time for the convenience. It's just too bad that you can't see the playlist on the nav screen using Bluetooth.

i read on an iphone forum that it was fixed -
actually i like changing the playlists, etc on the iphone rather than the nav system - i keep the iphone in an iphone cupholder and changing things is very easy. Playlists and iphone navigation apps, etc.
down the road - looks like apple is planning on making airplay the new standard - you will be able to do everything on a nav screen. i tested airplay out on my apple tv (gen 2) and it works pretty well. its like bluetooth, but can stream video and audio. I'm sure lexus will implement it in their 2025 cars. (Lexus seems to be 15 years behind everyone else)
