Default PICS: Updated shots after a coat of Meguire's Swirl X

CORRECTION: I meant SWIRL X, not SCRATCH X..sorry

Hello Everyone,

After some fresh swirls from the dealership car washers, I decided to give Meguires Swirl X a try since it was only $5 at Wally World. I was actually pretty shocked that it did a good job of hiding the swirls. I have a florescent light in my garage and the swirls that I saw yesterday are no longer visible under the same exact lighting conditions. Today is kind of overcast and can't get the true sunlight test, but I am pretty pleased with how good my car looks right now. My first black car, so I am learning how to deal with the maintenance of it.

we'll see but all i know is when i got the car home from the dealer, the swirls they put on it with their dagger dry towels or whatever they did were everywhere just from the light coming from my overhead florescent and garage door opener light. I had it hand washed while i was out yesterday and then I put on the swirl-x last night. Under the same light, i see no evidence of those swirls. The other random scratches are still there but are more faint, so the stuff seems to be disguising the real fine scratches pretty good.

Scratch X works very well on deep scratches, it comes in a small tube and a little goes a long way. For the entire car, if you have a good quality buffer, I use Meguiar's G110v2 Professional Dual Action Polisher and their Ultimate Compound which does a great job on light scratches over larger areas, its great on dark or black cars, I have black also

also for the large clear lenses, fog lights and tail lights, their Plastix is also outstanding for taking out oxidation and light scratches. I have used Scratch X on plastic for deeper scratches, but you have to be careful and followup with the Plastix.

I think Swirl X is more of a wax prep (base coat) For best results, I probably should have put a coat of another regular Mcguire wax on top of it, but my car had been waxed twice within the last couple months. It certainly seems like my car has that freshly waxed look so I'll just see how this goes for now.

Here is what i bought, to my surprise it was $5 a walmart with a red price tag (usually means clearance item) I should go back and get a couple more.

I have used that stuff on my blue GS and didnt have that much luck. I am loving the way the white paint on my new LS460 hides swirls but I miss that deep wet shine of a freshly waxed and polished dark colored car. I spent 7 hours last week clay baring, waxing, and polishing and the car looks about the same as when I started. I even spent 3 hours today doing another coat of Auto Glym and still looks the same..........bright white. Maybe this will keep me from always waxing like I have done with my previous cars. lol
