Default Wood steering wheel color

Is the wood stain on the steering wheel a little bit different than that on the trims? I have the redish color trim and the steering wheel color seems a bit off.

yup, steering wheel and shift **** wood match each other, but are a little more "brownish" than the rest of the wood, which like yours, is "redish."

I thought it odd as well, but it doesn't bother me

Lexus Vehicle Insider has a very good article on just how much attention is paid to the detail, color and quality of the steering wheels on our vehicles

I've noticed the same thing on my 07 460L. When the sun hits the wheel at a certain angle it looks brownish. In the shade it looks the same cherry red as the rest of the panels. An optical illusion perhaps....

perhaps because the steering wheels are made separate from the rest of the wood trim explains the slight variation?
