Does the gift card come after the repair is done?? Has anyone gotten their gift card before going in for the VSR?

I believe there is no system how far as before or after the VSR job, one member posted he had received both GC and the certificate at once.

I got my $1500 certificate and letter today saying my powertrain is now 6 years at 100,000 miles. Anyways to negotiate an upgrade on my regular warranty? Only got 800 miles left! LOL

Is it a Visa gift card value at $500 that can be used anywhere or must you use it on Lexus service and/or products?

Has anyone receive any type of legal letter other then the recall notification? Looks like this VSR recall is costing Lexus a whole lotta money. Average bill to Lexus from service is $4000 per vehicle (from what I read) and then as a good will gesture $500 gift card on top. Happy no one has been hurt, that I know of, as a result of a defective robot arm. So if there was no other stipulations that by accepting the GC you relinquish any future claims etc. Hope that's all to it.

Happy and Safe Holidays.

The card can only be used for parts or service at a Lexus dealership. You can't use it anywhere else. You only receive the card if you already have an extended warranty from Lexus. If you don't have the extended warranty, they only extend the power train warranty to 6 yrs/ 100,000 miles. By accepting the card, you don't have to sign anything. If my engine did fail from this recall, I would ask for a buy back from Lexus, or my dealership. This is my 6th Lexus...

BTW, the card expires in one year 12-2011...

Hope this helps.

Craig B.,

On the Visa card is your name imprinted on it? Trying to figure out the best and frugal way to utilize the value of the card. I have a CPO with another year on it. And I don't feel like giving Lexus service over $500 for a oil change (live in NYC) which the service consultant wanted to push on me "Lexus recommends that you service your vehicle every six months". Haven't even asked how much a tuneup will cost. So I guess it's floor mats, windshield wipers and other useless stuff etc etc. Wouldn't it be great if they allow us to purchase gasoline from their pumps? How would you use your Visa debit card? Might start seeing some show up on EBay if name is not imprinted and is transferable unlike $1500 vouchers that has to be used only by the name holder.

Thanks for reading. Happy and safe Holidays.

Yes, my name is on the card. $500 oil change? Take it to a Toyota dealership and have them change the oil. I take mine to Toyota, they use 0W20 full synthetic oil and the same filter. I change my oil once a year, or every 5000 miles.

Yes, I know about using Toyota service department to do the service work. My first "full" service was complimentary with the purchase of the CPO. When I took it in for the hinge and VSR the service manager mention that it was time for a six months service. I asked him what would be the "damage" he told me in the area of $500+. So I'm just wondering what other owners would use their $500 debit card when they get it. Things are more complicated when the card has a name imprinted on it. Wonder would Toyota honor the card?

Happy and safe Holidays.
