NAV update for a '08 LS460L
My son in law was told by a Lexus dealer the update for his '08 LS would be $450.
On Sewell's site and Lexus site(http://lexusnavigation.com/what_to_order.php) the update part #is $199 list. The dealer says the cost is $325 for the update 10.1 part#.
Anyone have the update done?
Cost?

Thanks for the replies,guys.
I just called another dealer,Lexus of Englewood service and they quoted $314 + tax part & labor.
Our Lexus dealer Tri County seems to be ripping my son in law off.He just has the valve recall and oil change done this week.
He called again this morning and was told the cost of $199 is for the disc not the zip drive for the hard drive system. The SA insists it's $322 for the part.
My s-i-l and I have bought 6 cars from this dealership and had our service done there.
Looks like another Lexus dealer will be getting our business.

The NAV update part is $199 regardless if it's the DVD for non-hard drive systems or the USB key for hard-drive based systems. For DVD systems there is no reason to pay for labor as it is as simple as pressing "eject" on the DVD player in the trunk and installing the new DVD. For the hard-drive based systems it is hard to avoid labor as it must be done with the dealer's diagnostics laptop with the purchased USB key. They download the update from the Lexus dealer website and then use the USB key to unlock the file for the car and then download the update to the car. It's a simple process but it took my dealer (Keyes Lexus) a while to figure it out. To date, I think they've only done a few NAV updates for customers. I think I'm the only one that has every asked for the GraceNotes database update (which they are supposed to do for free 4 times a year).

Finally got the 10.1 Nav update courtesy of Lexus via GC and I love no more "I Agree" to deal with YEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!! Sorry this may not be a big deal to most but I really, really, really hated the lawyer screen wallpaper.

The newest update removes the lawyer screen? I didn't know that? Does the actual GUI look any more modern or in line with Infiniti's? I've seen the factory nav guis in mercedes, audi, lexus, bmw and I like the fit's the most.

Yo man, we need to talk about this. Should I get it done? I am pretty sure the original database is in the car now. Need to see what you got out the door for to get this mane

Well you still get quick splash screen say "be cautions" blah blah etc for 2-3 secs then the Map screen appears, better than pushing "I Agree" everytime you turn on the car. The GUI looms the same no changes there nor am I surprised, you get updated maps, POI's & some firmware updates. One firmware for non ML & 2-3 for ML systems, I can't remember all but one is for CD info/ripping to HDD and iPod something.
