Man sorry to see this, glad it was not a worse than what it is. I been where you are now last April and I feel your pain bout driving the Chevy, I wish the best and a great outcome in the end.

The car went into the body shop yesterday - they still don't have a timeline or even an approximate completion date yet. Probably won't know anything for a couple of weeks.

Spoke to the insurance company and there will definitely be diminished value. Will probably know the calculated number next week some time.

Thanks to all for all the kind thoughts!

Update on the car body work - total repair cost $10,000 (and may be more) and will take at least another 18 days to complete. No frame damage that they can see but they still have to put it on their equipment to confirm. Diminished value still being calculated but will be in excess of $4,000.

Still driving the Impala - can't stand it. Good thing I'm doing a lot of traveling right now so the car is sitting at the airport as much as I'm driving it.

My first car was an Impala!! Loved it. How times have changed. I hope the damage repair is well done.

We're still a little sore so will probably go see an Orthopaedic doctor just to be checked out. The vehicle that hit us was a Mazda CX-7. One of those smaller SUV's. He had some relatively minor damage to his grill and front bumper.
