Default Safe to remove painted sidelines? Shark fin antenna?

My car has what appears to be painted lines on the sides similar to these on solutionag's car (hope he doesn't mind that I used his car's pic):

Why some Lex cars have these lines and some don't? Can these lines be safely removed? I have SGM exterior.

What is the shark fin antenna used for? Is it just for satellite radio? If yes, can I remove it without affecting anything else and without having any wires hanging out?

Thanks.

Those are pin strips (which I hate) and they can be removed.

i thought pin stripes were painted on in some cases, not always the sticker type..if sticker, that should be easy and then buff..hopefully the sun didn't burn in the shape of them though

Yes, pin stripes on LS are painted. Yes, they can be removed. I had mine removed after 3yrs and you cannot even tell it was ever there. The dealership did it for me. It was $195 I believe, worth every penny in IMO.

correct. most pin stripes are stick on, but there are some painted ones. if so, then you are in trouble trying to remove them. will need some good polishing tool i suppose
