New to ClubLex/ few questions :D
hello everyone im new to this site (obviously). i currently have a 05 G35 coupe that im about to trade in for a LS460 07 SWB model. ive grew up with lexus in my entire family and after 3 troubled years with my Infiniti i decided to join the family and get a LEXUS already
im currently looking at a CPO 07 LEX ls460 with 44K miles. its BLUE on TAN and is very clean 1 owner and everything and its listed at a very good price.
the only thing that bums me is that it doesnt have the ML system (im big on my music) but thats a small sacrifice for the great deal that it is. i would rather have the L with the air suspension but thats also an unneeded option for me.
i ahve been talking back and forth with a sales consultant and if everything goes fine tomorrow i will be an owner of a LS460
i have a few questions that i have already researched on but would like some opinions. i will most likely be getting a pair of Vossens CV1 rims in the 22x9 22x10.5 fitment. since the SWB does not have AVS the best way of lowering the car would be either coilovers or springs. i have had tanabe springs on my g35 in the past and I have read that the nf210 are really popular for these cars especially with 22"s. my question is that would it look really out of place if i didnt lower it? i have seen that someone (4got who srry) has a set of vossens also without lowering the car but i didnt really get a good look at the stance. and ive seen that the install for them is a hassle (taking out the back seats and what not) so the installation is probably more than the springs them selfs LOL.
Also i was wondering will the lowering have any affect on the camber on the car? (ive had horrific issues with my G in the past ) also is it worth going with 21's or 20's for ride quality?? ( i know this has been asked before just want straight answers thnx)
and my last question is about tires on the 22's. i know i will be running 245/30/22 upfront and i know that people use 295/25/22 in the rear but my Q is that would it be better to have a 295/30/22 in the rear?? i mean for better ride quality wise because more rubber is better right?? haha srry this is kind of long. im probably going to go with continetal extremes, nitto invos, hankook v12's, or PS2 (if im feeling generous )
well anyways i would just like to say thanks in advance
and IF i pick p the car 2marro i will post some fresh pics up here
thanks again,

it's all personal choice of course, but personally i always lower the car first and then wheels. i think this car stock height with 22s look a bit out of proportion. but of course, that's just my taste
lowering will of course affect the camber, nothing you can do about it. you can adjust the toe setting to compensate the inner wear. toe setting is the key.
ride, for sure it will be affected. will it be substantial? i doubt
for tires, no, i don't see the point of running thicker tire in the back, the front will be like rubber band and the rear has thicker profile. doesn't make sense to me. if you do 30 in the rear, you do 35 in the front. and of course, those are all out of spec, prepare for rubbing

i guess you are right about the tires. im just skeptical about the how thin the tires are (never had tires less than 35, ever) ive definetly learned my lesson with toe settings (btw are they set to 0 in the LS?) i have to look up the alignment specs... but anyways another question that i forgot to ask, will i be needing to do any fender work?
thanks

for toe, i don't think spec is 0. you should always have some toe in for good alignment. and if car is lowered, a good shop will put more toe in to compensate camber. keep in mind when car is lowered, factory spec is out the window
fender work, it depends on widths and offsets of wheels you get mostly
yes i forgot, ML is a must, not an option, especially you care about audio

haha thanks a lot for the feedback guys im lovin it
haha anyways i went shopping around at MANY placed in town that have 460's. i went to 2 dealerships and i haggled for a ls460L with ML 47k miles silver/blk for a good price but it never worked out. (the one i went to see was already sold, they had sold 2 that same day) BUT i must say ive never driven a 460 (only my dads 430 b4) and its such a difference!! i fell in love immediately so to say...then i found an 08 SWB blk/grey that was great until i saw the carfax and it had been in 2 previous accidents b4 :/
after that bummer i went to another LEXUS dealership and they were WAY overpriced but they had a wholesale dealer right next to them who had an AMAZINGLY clean blk/blk 07 w/39K and they had a nice price on it BUT it doesnt have the ML :P also a bummer.
my main problem right now is that i cant trade in my car for a REASONABLE price (infiniti g35 coupe btw) so now i am having to sell it myself b4 i can purchase a 460... so until i am able to sell my infiniti (which i have it for sale at a price to sell ASAP) i am on hold...
but i must say, after driving the LWB with the air suspension it is really nice to have it along with the extra space in the back. but since i am a single guy im just going to be looking for a SWB 460 with ML and NAV (btw you guys are right the ML is phenomenal!!)

well, you want as close to 0 toe for tire longevity as possible. the caveat is that factory suspensions have rubber parts in it, so you have deflection while the car's rolling. you'll see that factory alignment specs usually recommend some toe-in.
if you have a heim-jointed (pillowball, rose joints, etc) without rubber pieces, you can get by with a straight 0 toe alignment.
playing with toe will also affect your handling -- that's just something to keep in mind if you're playing with your alignment

I had a dropped G35 and a dropped GS350 before my LS and I am pretty happy with the way it looks at stock height. Yes it would look a little better dropped but I dont think the trade off is as good in the LS as it may have been with my other lowered cars. I am running a 245/20/22 front and a 295/25/22 rear. Dont be afraid of 25 or 30 profile tires. Just run a higher tire pressure and it should be fine . I am usually running 44-46 psi.

and thanks i think with all this feedback about people not having many issues with the lower profile tire is making me feel a bit more secure
but yeah especially because this is going to be my only car and not my show car it will be easier to just slip on a nice pair of rims and ride happy and healthy
again thanks for the help guys

BTW i forgot to ask how is the handling and the ride comfort affected, road noise etc.?? does it feel more grippy? srry you've probably been asked this a lot and i know there are a bunch of threads about this stuff but since you have basically the same setup im looking for i thought id ask while at it
