Default What are you using for Side Sunshades??

Hey all,

I recently perchased an '07 LS460L (last Saturday), Silver/Black with ML audio, with the luxury? rear seat package (heated/cooled/reclining/sliding seats). I also purchased the Prestigious Society mod for the ML system and installed it on Tuesday, and it's great.

Anyway, to the point. What are those of you who don't have the power rear side sunshades using if/when you have the kiddo's in the car??

My former car (MB E320 CDI) had the manual roll-up shades that were built into the doors and they worked great. But having the LWB LS460 with rear window shade but not side shades, I am struggling to find a suitable solution. I tried the search but didn't have much luck.

Thanks in advance for any insights you all may be able to provide.

Thanks,

Will

I know some people use those luxury curtains ... I forgot who sells them, but I'm sure you could search for it.

bellezza, junction produce, garson, and so on all make curtains, but they don't cover the entire window and are finicky to use. they're really there for style, not for function

if you have the 460L with the luxury rear seat pkg the side shades come with that package and you can control them from the front seat of rear seat console. Maybe I don't understand your question....?

I thought it would come with them also. But maybe it's not the luxury package. The rear seats slide and recline and are heated and cooled. I have the rear window shade, but no side shades.

Not sure I'm following, but oh well.

So it sounds as though the options are curtains, roll up shades that are too small, or try and make something?? Bummer. I was hoping that someone had a solution. I'm very surprised that the 460L's don't all have them.

Be careful what you wish for, I replaced an '07 460 L with a '10 460 and the rear shades were a basic part of a minor option, problem is, lost the reclining rear seats and the heated rear seats. Go figure, Lexus has a way of frustrating redcurrant owners.

That is odd. Making do right now with my square windshield shades hung off of the rear coat hook and grab handles. Works well but has to be removed to get the kiddo out of the rear seat. Certainly not ideal. Oh well.

Thanks for all the input everyone.

Options/packages and combinations thereof differ from region to region. They are selected/determined by the dealers together with the distributor, supposedly to keep the pricing inline with regional market demand(?). In Texas we have Gulf States Toyota, and that is why when you visit the Lexus website, the first thing they ask for is your zip code. FWIW, in 2008 I wanted an IS 350 with ML, this options was just not available even though it was on the Lexus website. The dealer didn't want to special order it, I persisted, and eventually they secured a vehicle with ML from California.
