What is the bottom line on TSIB's? Does Lexus change the parts in the TSIB's or just inspects the item, then makes a determination weather to fix?
Reason I ask is: I called my service writer at West Kendall Lexus and asked him about the navigation upgrade price. After he quoted me about 350.00, I then told him that I would also like my B-Pilars changed (TSIB) to the upgraded ones once I was there. He told me that even though there is a TSIB out for the pilars, that wouldn't mean they would get changed. What are you guys/gals doing to get the TSIB's done? Should I damage the pilar's and get them done under warrantee or what?

A TSB is a Technical Service Bulletin, that a manufacturer sends out to the automotive repair industry to aid in repair with odd "issues". This does not mean however that whatever component the TSB is in regards to is going to be a free replacement scenario. It's actually quite rare that a full warranty would be included in the TSB. It does happen, but in general all they are sent out for is to help techs in diagnosis of an issue

I am a mechanic in the independent repair industry, so not at a dealer. I do know that the dealers get a lot more tsb's in regards to how they are released. The amount we get are filtered. So the dealers I know get all of them, and some of the newer model tsb's may have a different course of action, because they are newer.

My CPO 07 LS460L is at the dealer because the passenger outside mirror won't fold. I wanted to get some of the common TSIBs done while the car was there to kill two birds with one stone. They called yesterday and said they wouldn't do any of the TSIBs under warranty. I had to call Lexus customer service and go thru the all the mumbo jumbo to three different people and ultimately I'm waiting for a regional specialist to call in 3-5 business days. I paid all this money for this car so I would have a reliable car and not fight if there's known problems, especially within 2 months of ownership. This sucks!!!

I have to admit that my dealership didnt fight me on any of the tsbs. They did say they needed to confirm the wind noise issue before proceeding though. The B pillars were scratched so they replaced those with no issue. The seat comfort thing was really annoying to me but they fixed that as well with out arguing. I guess I am lucky. I will admit though that now that I have had the wind noise fix for a bit that I have developed some door rattles that need to be addressed. I hate opening a can of worms with these fixes.
