Default Weird Carfax report (Buying a 2008 LS 460)

Thinking about buying a 2008 LS 460.

Carfax report has only 2 records: when car was registered in 2008 and when it was offered for sale in February 2011. No service records, no renewal records.

Is this a red flag? You would think there should be additional renewal records each year, right? (Car is listed as commercial vehicle, if that means anything...).

If have another Lexus, you can sign up on Lexus.com under Drivers and add the VIN of this car to your profile. You will be able to see all service records done.

Not necessarily a red flag, but could be....
If they had all the service done at Jiffy Lube or an independent shop, they might not log it.
If ownership changed, even demo or lease return, it would show up on CarFax, so it sounds like a one-owner car. But yes, each annual registration renewal should show up. Weird. And a commercial vehicle, depending on the state, could just mean it's registered to a company. Like the Prez of a company gets a car and they registered it in the name of the company.

What I did when I bought my car was to call the dealership with the VIN number and they looked up all of the service records for me

Apparently most the Lexus dealers don't report to carfax. You will be see all the dealers records in lexusowners.com. You don't have to own the car to register, just put the in VIN and see the service records then deleted the VIN saying you no longer own the car.
