Default Advice...Looking to buy used LS460

Hey guys, I'm looking for a bit of advice. I'm in the market for a used LS460 but I'm not sure exactly what I should be weary of on these models. I'm looking at 2007+ years...anything wrong with those in terms of recalls or common problem areas I should look for when checking them out in person? From reading this forum, I don't really see any problems (other than the one that burned up!)...any advice would be appreciated!

TIA!

get a CPO and you will have nothing to worry about for 3 yrs or until the odo hits 100k in that 3 yr period.

Agree, and if possible, recommend 2008 since 2007 was first year for current model.
Think they worked our a few minor issues but overall, probably not that much difference. Can save a few thousand by getting an '07 though.

Ok guys, I'm back....quick question.

I'm looking at an 08 with 40k on the clock....it's not CPO. Would you guys buy an 08 LS460 without it being a CPO? It's still got the factory warranty, which should be up in a year or 10k miles if I'm not mistaken. Thoughts? I'm assuming if I go with the non CPO, make sure the valve job recall has been done on it? Anything else to look for?

Thanks in advance!

If you cannot get a CPO, you can get extended warranty at great price from two dealers mentioned in this forum and still be OK. I recently bought an 07 and got extended warranty, I had 33k miles when I bought.

take a look at the TSIB list posted elsewhere on this forum -- be aware that the dealer most likely will not cover those issues once the original warranty is over, even if you have a CPO or lexus extended warranty (also be aware of the exclusions in the CPO + lexus warranties). i'd suggest an even later build car -- my 600hl has had tons of issues related to being an early build car (mine was produced late 2007)

Cheez, so what you're saying is that even if I get a CPO or extended warranty, Lexus still may not offer to fix any recalls?

Noble, I'll look for those extended warranties...thanks.

The key thing I would question is the new brake pads at only 14,000 miles, and then the brake repair at 34,000. Either this car was driven really hard, or there is some inherent problem with the brakes.

You don't state the year, but you should check if it was recalled for the valve spring replacement, the fuel rail and the idler pulley.

they will fix recalls (i think they're obligated to by law), but they won't fix service bulletin stuff (like updated b-pillars, dash rattle fix, wind noise fix, updated brake actuator, etc)
