Did not want to hijack another thread so - what are folks thoughts on going with an aftermarket rim close to the original size versus going to a 20" or larger? I'd love to have something for the nice months here in the Northeast but really don't want to lower car. I love the look of some of the Vossens. Any thoughts/comments are appreciated.

Check out these wheels, specially made for the Lexus LS 460, hub centric, flat lug nuts, proper offset, etc.
Besides the fact that it’s fun designing wheels, why did the founders of Lumarai create an entire wheel brand just for Lexus? There are several very good technical reasons why Lexus requires a wheel made to fit only Lexus vehicles:
Lexus wheels use flat seat nuts. Nearly every aftermarket wheel in the world uses 60 degree taper nuts. Lumarai wheels use flat seat nuts.
Lexus cars require hub-centric wheels. Not all aftermarket wheels are hub-centric on Lexus. All Lumarai wheels are made hub centric for Lexus.
Lexus wheels use air sensors. The Lumarai wheels are designed around the Lexus air sensor to ensure that OE Lexus air sensors will work on Lumarai wheels.
Many Lexus owners like to put the OE Lexus emblem on their wheels. Lumarai wheels accept the OE Lexus wheel emblem.
So that’s how Lumarai wheels came about, born out of the desire to upgrade Lexus wheels and the need to do it correctly.

There is a thread discussing the Lumarai's. I have a set on mine. I also added a nice pic from the Butler Tire website showing these on a silver LS. Some folks prefer the way 22s look. I like how they look also, but I drove an LS on 22s and my 20s ride much smoother and less harsh than the 22s did. But, there are a lot of variables that go into that such as tire brand/model, the actual wheel construction, etc. It really is a personal preference at the end of the day. I love these wheels on my car.

I went with 20s also. I put a little bit bigger tire then recommended to keep the ride as smooth as possible. I didn't lower the car. My car is used for driving so I did not want to sacrifice the ride. I had 22s on my 7 series but kept blowing tires and bending rims on the beat up Nebraska streets.

I'm getting 22s put on my ride but I probably would have gone with 20s on bigger tires if I drove it a lil bit more. I'm going with Vossen cuz I think their rims look much more classy than some other ones out there.
