Default Overpowering fumes

Generally I have my LS detailed twice a year from a local detailing shop.

For some reason, this time I had my Lexus dealer detail the car while the 50,000 mile servicing was done.

That was 16 days ago.

When I drove the car back, fumes were overpowering, and I had to drive with the windows open (This is Maine in March!).

I have to open all of the windows and the moon-roof overnight to help disburse the fumes.

Even now, if I let the car sit for a while sealed up, I have to air it out for a few minutes while driving.

I suppose that whatever they did to clean the upholstery is what's causing this, but it's interesting that I never had that problem when the local shop performed the detailing..........

I plan on letting the service manager know that whatever method they use to detail the interior is causing such issues.

Generally, and there are of course exceptions, dealers do not do the best job when it comes to things like detailing, new tires and collision repair. I find it best to stick with people that specialize in those functions.

Sounds like something (Cleaning chemical) was spilled on to your carpet and they did not do a good job getting it all out. I would take it back to have them find the source of the smell and deal with it.

I agree with the previous post regarding probability of a spilled chemical. If, after 16 days, the fumes are still so strong then it is not just normal cleaning amounts.

I think you should have gone back and complained after the first week.
