Navi update cost?
Wife is complaining that the navi on our ls460 is not finding places. Does anyone in OC/IE/LA southern california know the cheapest place to get this done?
Is there a dealer that is offering a great price?

not aware of any one other than the dealer being able to do this in the LS.. it requires a USB Key and then the dealer has to install it with their Tech laptop computer.
I update my SC all the time with DVDs off Ebay etc, but Lexus has locked this down on the LS.. would love to know of a way around it, I just used my VSR CC to update mine and it was a few hundred bucks at Crown Lexus in Ontario.

the procedure is pretty damn complicated. the TSIB detailing how to do this is like 22 pages long.
it also requires not only the techstream computer, but also another separate special service tool. crazy.
it's in the black box sitting by the front driver's door. the papers sitting on top of the car is all 22 pages of the TSIB, printed out haha.

The navigation on our cars are GARBAGE.........................just had mine updated to the new version and still sucks. True, some address even in Florida, you can not find on our system. When Im in Miami Beach, on Ocean Drive, it reads Im somewhere else, another street. Buy a Garmin Nuvi as back up or any PDI phone.

i just use my Sprint Navigation on my phone..always up to date and never lets me down..also works with car in motion lol. I know thats not safe tho. As far as Nav system on the LS, I primarily just use it for XM Nav Traffic which seems to work real well. I wish we had the simple DVD database update like most cars... I will probably update it at some point..its on 2006 version #olskool

I got XM to add in the navteq traffic for free this year. I was going to drop XM since the quality is so bad, but they cut the price in half and threw in the traffic. Here in So Cal its worth the price of 50.00 as it will give you the heads up on traffic conditions before you get into the middle of it and then are stuck. I dont travel or commute as much as I used to, so would not have paid for it this time around, but since I had it already they gave it to me for free for another year. I also find the maps on 10 to be pretty good, its really the POIs that make the most difference, as the phone numbers etc are all now current within the last year. I have to agree with most up here though, its not a very good Nav system compared to what else is out there, even smart phones and my Ipad are more current.
