Hey guys... This is my first post. I recently purchased a 2007 CPO SWB LS 460 with 29K miles, mercury metalic. I am loving it BTW.
Anyways, It was serviced at a lexus dealership for brake click. When I got the car back, I noticed streaks, kinda like clear nail polish running down my right front fender and wheel. I took the car back to the dealer ship and they said that when the mechanic was working on the car next to mine, they were doing some sort of engine cleaning, where the chemical splashed on the mechanic and onto my car as well. SA states that they had not realized that it had got onto my car. Well, now he states that because this chemical ate through the clear coat, they need to repaint the right front fender. I am very pissed. My car was accident free and paint is flawless. I guess I have no choice, but to take my car back to them, so they could take it to their body shop for repaint.
My question is, WHat would you do?
Thanks for your opinions....

Well what can you do???? if you want it fixed then you have to deal with them but other than that I feel your pain, aint nothing worser than imperfection on a damage free car. Just make sure they do a good job and enjoy your loaner.

Another option would be to retain an attorney and attempt to show a loss of value for claim purposes. However, this would be extremely difficult to establish not to mention time consuming. Lextrician has probably given you the best option. Also recommend you photograph the damage if possible and double check their completed work while the vehicle is outside in bright light. There is nothing wrong with requesting some form of compensation however, over and above the repair even if you elevate your concern to Lexus customer service.

Thanks for the inputs. I know there isn't a whole lot I can do. I just wanted to know what some of you other LS owners would do in this situation?...

You could ask them to throw in a free nav update, or 30,000 mile service, or at the very least a free oil & filter change.

I'd ask for 2011 LS600 sales demo "loaner" while your car is in paint and a free 2011 nav update. Retaining an attorney would not be cost effective in this case I don't think. And chances are that your cpo car already had its bumpers and maybe hood repainted before resale at the dealer. They do that quite often to prep the car for sale, just not reported to carfax.
