passenger side mirror loose??
I picked up my car from service last week. The other day I was doing a little spray wax session and when I went over the passenger side mirror I noticed it was a bit loose. I called my service advisor and he stated that it happens sometimes and that I should bring the car in right away to have it tightened before it strips the mount. Has anyone had this happen to their LS460. Just curious.
PS I hate the way this stuff happens right after I get the car back from Lexus service. A couple of visits ago I had them replace my windshield wipers and when I picked up the car it had a huge scratch in the windshield that was the same arced curve as the wiper. I called to complain and was told it was my work vs the techs. I was pissed but just ended up having the insurance replace my glass. I am going to get pissed if they imply that this happened all by itself.(rant over...sorry)

both of mine are a bit loose, exactly the same amount, I picked it up that way, never had an issue with them working correctly. I asked my SA and he said not an issue unless they move around while driving and I find it annoying. I checked some other LS, and most were loose on the lot... I actually did not know they didnt come that way until I joined this board.

Exactly why I always do maintenance items myself whenever possible. Anyway, the loose mirrors are a bummer. Hope the engineer responsible for the mechanical design now works in a steakhouse in Tokyo.

turns out there is a tsib on it. I have the Lexus extra care . I am hoping they will cover it. ZRegardless I will pay to have it fixed if I have to.

both of mine will move very easily about 1/4 inch. Im not sure if that is an issue or not.. they seem fine, are they supposed to be completely tight? I would think there needs to be a little bit of play for the motors to pull them in and put them back out, which is a feature I use daily.

I am in the habit of leaving mirrors out and not retract unless I parallel park or in a tight space..afraid that mirror motors will eventually wear out and make them loose

Has any one ever repaired theres with the bolt kit? My drivers side is a bit loose. It will move every so much on a windy day or during a turn. Just wondering if any had a fix with buying that bolt kit.

I finally replaced the 2 small screws to both mirrors. It made the them stop moving on windy days and on sharp turns. Its worth the effort to put them in took about an hour to do both.

Completed on mine a few months back as well.
Not a difficult job but an involved one.
I didn't remove the mirror completely but instead I worked carefully while it was still attached by the wiring.
The new screw set adds ... lock washers!
3 screws per side.
