Default Trunk Stuck

So my dughter closed the trunk with part of the cargo net sticking out of the trunk (2008 LS460SWB). Now the trunk won't open, the remote does not activate the unlock mechanism, I was able to reach the emergency release latch with a golf club, but that only partially diengages the lock mechanism. Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this? This car has the ventilated reclining rear seats BTW. Thanks in advance.

Try to push the trunk a little down while trying to open it. I think it'll work.

You will have to turn the key, hold the key "turned" and lift up on the trunk lid( while you are holding the key "turned").

I remain confident that my instructions will open the trunk in any situation however some people are unable to understand exactly how much to turn the key and how much upward force is necessary. The best way to understand how to operate the key is to practice a few times before your trunk gets jammed but you are not able to do that now.

Several people have told us that disconnecting the car battery for a few minutes and then reconnecting it will cause the automatic latch mechanism to cycle and that will free the trunk lid. It is worth a try.

Just a SWAG here, but since you are able to pop it up about an eighth of an inch, what about trying to snake a small flexible jigsaw type blade up there to try and cut away the cargo net.

Can't you go in thru the back seat with someone else holding the trunk open as far as it would go and try to finagle the trunk net from inside?

I took the car in for an oil change and they figured it out. Thanks for all the replies.
