Question 2012 ls460

Just got home from the dealer. They offered to order me a 2012 LS with no deposit and no obligation to buy. My '08 only has 13K miles, but they seem to want it really bad as a trade. We'll see on that. This dealer lost me on the sale of my current LS to another local dealer, and they're promising to get me back. I told them we'll see on that one too. I've always used them for warranty/service for the past 15 years.

Anyway, they claim that new order info will be at the dealership between July 8-15th. I was looking for Matador Red with Gray interior, but they only had two with Black leather in stock. We checked their entire stock including incoming, and what a surprise. Normally they have at least 30-50 LS's in stock, but they only had about 7 currently in stock with about 10 coming in. Not a one with Gray interior. Anyone know of any new colors for 2012?

Next generation LS, likely LS500 will be out in dealer show room Sep or Oct of 2012. Are you sure about trading in for another LS 460 which is 90% same car as what you currently have?

What's wrong with your 08 that you would want to trade for basically the same car? Is it a lease, otherwise keep the 08 and buy another when the new generation LS is released.

yup, wait and see what the new body has in store..then decide. 13K miles, wow! That car is basically brand new. Depending on how the new body looks. If I like the new body, I will keep my 07 for another 3 years and then just buy a CPO new body. If I don't like the new body, I may start shopping for a 2010 "L" with air as an upgrade to my SWB non air

Yup 2013 is the way to go, unless you're an end-of-the-world theory believer xD.

When the rapture comes, can I get a good deal on a 2010 LS with the sport package? How much will they discount in-stock CPA (Certified Post Apocolypse) vehicles? Clouds of fire or not, I'm looking for a good deal.

Learn how to hotwire a car and it's all yours!

I will be looking for a mint Hummer H1 at that time....

LS500? According to my "trusted" dealership, the 2012 is going to be more of the same with a few mods, never any mention of a 5 liter engine, but that's not to say it won't happen. Last I heard, major modifications won't happen until 2013.

Ordering for 2012 just opened up today. 1 new color available, Nebula Grey Pearl replaces Smoky Granite Mica. No other color or option changes from 2011. Dealer also had a LS Touring Edition model on the showroom floor. Said it was the only one they were getting for '11. Not to my taste, but very pretty interior if you like black leather. First '12 models start shipping from the factory on 8/27 with approximate delivery 10/1.

I have a question for the group. Is the PCS system not available on the SWB model? My salesman told me no tonight. Only available on L model.

Thumbs up PCS System

I think I just answered my own question. I went to the Lexus.com website and found where the PCS is a stand alone option. I just cut and pasted it in an e-mail to my salesman, so it appears his order guide was incorrect. We'll see.

What?! A car salesman not knowing the product he's selling?! Impossible, I don't believe it!

About 2 years ago I had a salesman tell me that Lexus discontinued PCS. The reason he told me this is because he didn't want me to order a car, he wanted to sell me one already on the lot. He was in such a hurry to make a commission, and now he will never ever make a commission from me.

Kbinfl,

Did the dealer mention an increase in the base price? The dealer I am going to mentioned there may be a 1.8% increase in base price (at least on the GX460 I am ordering).

Patgilm,

No, pricing was not mentioned. They offered to order the car with first right of refusal without placing a deposit. I know they'll want to jerk me around since it will be from their first shipment of '12 models, but with LS sales down 30-40% from last year we'll see how motivated they'll be. Not a big deal if it doesn't happen.
