not hard, i just did mine today and you'll need a dremel tool with a cutting bit. you'll have a few mm of plastic adjacent to the cig lighter after cutting. mine fits tight, so i didn't use the bracket or screws.

just the side adjacent to the lighter assembly. i attached a word doc with some instructs.
