I just ordered a 2012 ls460.they took the order and said the car would be here about end of october or beginning of nov.but what i read on the internet about the 2012 is that it will be released in august of 2012.am i basically getting a 2011 so called a 2012? Any ideas out there?

I know it is a little confusing, or it is to me, but cars are typically released in October preceding their model year. So, the 2013s will likely be released in October of 2012 and the first 2012s will probably be available a month from now.

What were you expecting? If you went to the dealer and looked at the car did you expect a redesigned body style to show up? The 2012 is the same as the 2011 with the 2013 expected to have a slight refresh.

2012 or 2013
they have no cars in the showroom,no 2011 or 2012.in the magazines they say the 2012 LS460 has a new engine and better gas mileage and body changes,i know the cars come out in the fall,so why don't they call this a 2013 instead of a 2012.typically the 2012 would be coming out now.then they should say that it is a new 2013 coming out in fall of 2012.i just went on line and looked up a few articles and they all say the NEW 2012 it just seems that the years they are quoting are confusing.i bought the starfire pearl with parchment interior.the car will now (evidently)look exactly as my 2007 did.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. You are still getting, in my best Bob Barker voice, A NEW CAR!!!lol Nice color combo. Even though it "looks" the same, it will have all updated software, and the new car smell.lol Like I said, A NEW CAR!! Have fun with it!!

Also, the LS has had minor updates to it since it's initial release. It won't look exactly the same. Small changes have been made to the front end, the mirrors, etc. Just a little FYI. All in all, enjoy the NEW CAR!! Bob Barker voice again.lol

thanks mr. Barker for the uplift. I know i can't go wrong with a new lexus,i just thought i was going to get the better gas mileage and more horsepower(you can't go wrong with more horses)and a slightly new body change.not even knowing what the 2013? Ls will look like i would buy it sight unseen.that's how much i like the car.and if the market keeps on going the way it is i'll be selling it before i have it,and looking for a 1989 ls

So the OP thought he was getting the next generation LS? I don't think Lexus has officially announced the release date of the next gen LS. Magazines and online sites are only speculating the release date. Who knows if it'll be a 2013 or 2014 model.
Regardless, as others' have said, enjoy your new car.
