I believe you can just take the car to lexus to have it printed? When I took my car in they gave me the complete history of services performed at Lexus.

well the thing is i checked the records on lexusdrivers and basically there was nothing from when it was sold to the first 24K miles and then nothing again till 60K miles when it says "V8 recall" which is the current milage of the car.
but there are zero other maintenance or service appts listed.
not a single oil change or anything.
and since most of the cars i'm looking at are far away from where i live, i'm really relying on the service records and carfax to give me a good idea if its a serious prospect.
this is one of the few cars i've found which has all the options and color combo i want.

Why do oil changes have to be completed at the dealer? This doesn't mean no maintenance was done on the car, it just means that it wasn't done at a Lexus dealer. I don't get my oil changed at the dealer, but it is done religiously. If you don't want the car, that's understandable, but you can't assume maintenance wasn't done on the car just because Lexus has no records. That's just ridiculous.

Good points, OSU. I agree totally. If it really bothers a potential buyer, one can always hire a qualified mechanic to go inspect the car. Everything is possible for $.

Best Wishes to all,

you can add in your personal record to the Lexus site in addition to them putting it in.

If the owner had a record of the service performed outside of the dealer that woud suffice too. But how do you know it was done? There is a lot more than just oil changes to be done in addition... filters, fluids etc.. if the dealer is not doing it and recording it, I would want to know that it was done, when and was it in the manuf specified interval?

I spent a year looking for CPOs and never found one with this minimal information.. my guess would be that almost nothing was done.. why take a chance? there are many other LS out there with records.

well i believe it was a one owner car, and i'm under the impression that when you purchase a vehicle new from a lexus dealership maintenance is free for a certain period?

if so it not only makes no sense for someone not to have the service done regularly, but makes even less sense to pay for it to be done by someone else.

all around a very strange situation, and its silly to say that i'm trying to find some excuse not to buy the car....i literally spend hours every day scouring the internet looking for the right lexus LS460L to buy.
its all consuming at this point, and when i find the car that matches all of my criteria i'm going to be a very happy lexus owner.
but for the amount of $ i'm going to be spending, i'm absolutely not going to compromise or settle for something questionable.

Not saying you're trying to find an excuse. Im saying that all maintenance isn't done at the dealer. Mostly because it's more expensive than going to another shop and as far as I know, maintenance is not free at a lexus dealer. I.E, you still pay for air filters. Why would it be free? Maybe a couple of oil changes. Don't know what amount of money you're spending but these cars aren't that much nowadays. I agree, don't compromise and my responses aren't really towards you, they're more towards the notion that if a lexus dealer doesn't have the maintenance records, then it is assumed no maintenance is being done. FYI to another post, I can change an air filter on an LS460 and have, in both the engine and the cabin. Lexus won't have that info.

Again, be happy with what you get and search the internet for your criteria to your hearts content!
