Default Cabin Air Filter

Has anyone actually had their cabin air filter light come on indicating the need to change it out?

I have 40,000 miles on my 07 and have never seen the light. I'm ready to take the car in for the 40K service and the dealer wants an extra $100.00 for the filter with install.

I have two new ones on the bench but was going to wait for the light to come on but I'm starting to wonder if it works. I guess I could install one myself just for giggles.

Though I've never had my cabin air filter light come on, I've just routinely changed it out because everything else was being changed. $100 for the filter/install is steep, I'd try and tackle that yourself.

Don't let the dealer change the filter. You can do that yourself. Follow instructions in manual and remember to ensure climate system is in recirculation mode. Anyway, I didn't know there was a light for the cabin filter.

I agree with the other posts.

The cabin filter is easy to change yourself ; besides you can buy one from Amazon much cheaper than from the dealer
.
Do pay attention to the instructions in the owners manual.

Amazon sells a non OEM brand, TYC. I've been using them for awhile, quality is just as good as OEM. They're around $16.

Like everyone says, change it yourself.

Default Ask for a discount

I reently purchased an 08 LS 460 out of town and contacted my local dealer for parts when I returned. I informed them I could purchase the cabin filter for $46 on-line and he matched it. I pretty much got all filters at wholesale cost. The filter is easy to DIY.

$100 my eye!!!

When I drop my car off the local jiffy lube here in Riyadh, the Filipino tech opens up the trunk and whatever filters he finds there he replaces. No questions asked. No extra charges. I tip him 20 riyals ($5 with the purchasing power of $20).

It's that easy & fair for both of us. And I buy everything online in batches according to my maintenance schedule. The air filters (both of them) cost me $46 combined.

I don't know how your Lexus dealer sleeps at night with such a sin of charging $100 for $46 parts and 0$ labor (since it doesn't take more than 30 seconds to replace both filters)!

I paid the dealer to do it with a 50k service. Now im hitting the mileage im getting the "Change AC filter" waring when I start the car. I dont feel like driving to the dealer and waiting for them to reset the light. I did a search and tried holding the button when starting the car but that doesnt work.

Default Cabin Filter

I get a couple of Fram Fresh Breeze cabin filters from Amazon. 25 dollars for two with free shipping. Takes about 30 seconds to change on the RX.

For all of you who changed it out how did you reset the warning light?
