Default Wash procedures for clear bra and plastic fender parts

I would appreciate any comments on external care for my LS460. I like and have used Meguiar's products that are easily available.

Wash - Ultimate Wash & Wax; weekly
Clay bar - Smooth Surface Kit; plan on twice per year
Polish - Ultimate Polish; plan on twice per year (immediately after clay)
Wax - Ultimate Liquid Wax; plan on twice per year (immediately after polish)

Touch up: Ultimate Quik Detailer and Ultimate Quik Wax

Rims: Hot Rims Cool Care - occasionally
Wheels: Hot Shine Tire Spray - occasionally

I know there are other products out there but Meguiar's seem to be good higher end products with which I figure I can't go far wrong.

One question, since I am about to do my first Clay and Polish treatments, is what to do with the clear bra I have on the front and the plastic panels. Should I give them the same treatments as the metal surfaces or not. Especially the Clay/Polish steps.

Any comments/directions would be appreciated.

Default Do NOT clay clear bra!!

Whatever you do, don't use clay bar on the clear bra. I use a product called Plexus on the clear bra and other plastics. It's a cleaner and conditioner for plastic. I've had a clear bra on our cars since 2003, and Plexus is great! I'm partial to Zaino wash/wax products myself.

on Zaino. Meguiar's Ultimate lines are pretty good, I believe Ultimate Wax can be layered like Zaino and it's a synthetic. There have been some complaints that it leaves streaks if not applied evenly.

I'm a Zaino fan.

Does your warning re clay bar apply to the car's plastic bumpers and some of the side panels? Thanks for the warning!

No, no. Just don't clay bar the parts that have the clear bra on it. Clay baring the plastic on the rear bumper is okay. I assume your front bumper has the clear bra on it?

Thanks kbinfl. Yes the front bumper has the clear bra on it. The weather looks great the coming weekend so off I go with rags/buckets etc.

I'm glad I checked re the clear bra.
