Default ML audio issue

I was playing my audio yesterday when all of the sudden the bass didnt sound the same. Didnt think much of it since I have an aftermarket sub but it just didnt sound as "filling" as it did before. Tonight I discovered that none of low end speakers in the car are playing. The ones in the lower part of the doors. Any ideas on what it could be? First I thought that it was a blow speaker but all of the speakers?

Do you have ML? If so, your ML amp may be shot. Seems like many have had that issue

CJITTY,yes, its an ML that was my first thought and I was hoping it wasnt. All the other speakers played except for the 6x9s in the front doors. I decided to take the door panel off which was a lot easier than I thought and run some test on the speaker. Come to find out, the speakers are blown. Now its time to replace them for a slight upgrade. I know I cant go all out since Im still running the ML amp but I'll find something.

There are four fuse locations in this car. I would start by checking those first. There are so many speakers with this car it's possible that they are not all on one fuse.

in addition to immediately replacing the blown speakers, i'd look into some sort of an equalizer so that you can make tuning adjustments. JBL MS-8, Audison Bit One, etc. Sounds to me like you play your music on the louder end of the spectrum and investing in an equalizer of some sort might save you money rather than replacing speakers as they go out.

I really dont know what speaker i'll be going with yet. Went to a local shop and they had MB quart and another brand named Eclipse which they played and it sounded nice. I guess it'll have to be something low powered, maybe in the 50-75watt range since from what i've read, the total output of the ML amp is supposed to be 450watts. They'll also have to be part of a component set since its driven on the low end and a 2 or 3 way speaker would be useless because of the crossover point. The MB and Eclipse were both components. They also recommended a 6.5 component along with an adapter to fit the 6x9 spacing. I'll do a little more reading and come up with something soon.

it was my understanding that Eclipse was getting out of the aftermarket arena(2009) an concentrating on oem products.. im glad to see they are hanging on..

it does sound like that you like it loud.. i dunno if a 6.5 is goin to suit your needs for sub bass(the freq response the 6x9 are playin is 120 an down) unless your adding another amp for the by9's id look to an inexpensive pair w good bass response an low power handling (im pulling my doors on sat to see what type of room is really back there) so while im in there i'll measure the imp of the oem speaker so u can narrow your search an not do too much damage to the ML amp..
