My dad has a 2008 LS 460. He has a huge music collection and over the years has only ever ripped the CD's to the harddrive in his car. Evidently Lexus doesn't do the harddrive thing any more, so he wants to pull the files off the harddrive. Lexus is telling him they won't pull the files b/c it'll "break the patent" they have on the music system. So he's left with all of these files on his harddrive in his car, but can't do anything with them. Is there a way around this? Is there any way for us to get into that harddrive? Feels more restrictive than Apple/Itunes...
Any help would be appreciated.
TIA!

well... you would have to take the hard disk out and slave it into a computer to see what the file extention is on the file names.
from then u can begin the process of figuring out how to get them converted to a standard mp3... assuming they are encoded into something else.
if the music files have DRM when they were ripped to the hard drive. u might want to abandon hope. getting rid of that crap is a pain.
